Vacationing in Jamaica, Asey gets a series of strange telegrams about a bet and a grocery order. Coming from the Hybrid Club, the strangeness is no surprise. What is the surprise is the part about solving Aunt Eugenia’s grocery order.
Asey finds himself leaving the sunny climes to go back to snowbound New England. When he arrives he finds the bet was placed by his friend, Bill Potter, and the bet is for $50,000.
Asey also finds there has been a second death in a year of a well-respected aunt. The situation of the body of the aunt is very suspicious, which causes Asey to go into detective mode. It wasn’t a natural death or an accident.
The cast of characters brings in colour and action to the book. Asey finds himself working with Leon, show more an annoying but sharp young man who is smarter than people think. As the two work together to determine if the deaths were murder and linked, energy, greed, jealousy, family relations, humour and mystery are all brought to the surface.
An enjoyable read with lots of twists and turns. show less
