Description

New York Times bestselling author Lori Wilde's heartwarming story of a bride who's lost her faith in love and the cowboy who makes her believe in second chances . . .
Addicted to Love
Growing up in Valentine, Texas, can make anyone believe in happily ever after. But recovering romantic Rachael Henderson has decided that love stinks. And after having two grooms ditch her at the altar, she commits an uncharacteristic act of rebellion that leaves her feeling liberated-until she's arrested by show more Sheriff Brody Carlton.
Once upon a time, being hauled against the strong body of her first cowboy crush would have had Rachael planning the wedding of the year. Now it spurs her to create Romanceaholics Anonymous, and soon all of Valentine is divided as diehard romantics clash with anti-love cynics.
With the town up in arms, the biggest cynic of them all-the sinfully sexy sheriff-can't stop fantasizing about this beautiful woman who's nothing but delicious trouble. Can he convince Rachael that it just may be possible to have her wedding cake and eat it too?

I found "Addicted to Love" by Lori Wilde to be a fun and humorous story. In a way, it was an anti-romance romance. If that confuses you, read on!

Rachael grew up in Valentine, Texas where everything, and I do mean EVERYTHING in town glorifies the idea of romance. From the huge bride mascot at the entrance to town to parking meters shaped like hearts, Valentine's whole economy is built on the tourism trade of love. But when Rachael is dumped at the altar for a second time AND her Dad lets spill that he and her mom are getting divorced, Rachael becomes just a bit disillusioned. So she sets out to change her outlook and actions regarding love and romance.

Brody can't quite believe what he's seeing. There's a woman in a bride's dress defacing show more the town mascot! Since Brody's the Sheriff, and the Mayor is irate, Brody doesn't have much choice but to arrest the culprit. He always thought Rachael was cute and they were childhood buddies until he moved away, but there's something different about her now. Maybe it's the fact that she's all grown up...and really HOT. But Brody has his own demons to fight regarding love and self-image.

What makes this story so funny is Rachael's thoughts and actions to try and 'break herself' of her romantic tendencies...and Brody's reactions to Rachael. Throw in the wounded hero thing Brody has going and he becomes a man to dream of, with handcuffs!! Wilde is hit and miss for me, but I did enjoy this book. My only disappointment was with the lack of focus on Brody and Rachael. There was the whole deal with her Mom and Dad, a town divided by Rachael's thoughts and actions, and even a little political scheming, dirty politics, and strange bedfellows to boot. Maybe that was just too much for me to deal with while trying to understand Rachael and Brody.

"Addicted to Love" is the third book by Lori Wilde in a series about a wedding veil with magical properties to grant the owner their heart's desire. I've read all of them so far and each seems to 'miss' for me...just a little, but enough to impact my enjoyment. I need to add that this book is NC-17 solely because of one love scene involving oral sex. The rest of the book is fairly tame.

rabck from love2cook; Rachel is painting the giant billboard lips black in her full wedding regalia. Sheriff Bordy needs to figure out how to get her down and the mayor wants her arrested. The book takes off from there, with multiple couples fighting getting together and trying to be anti-romance....in Valentine, Texas
Started the Wedding Veil Wishes so felt obligated to finish reading the 4 books. Ok story line. Rachael Henderson and Brody Carlton, sheriff. She was left at the alter and starts Romanceaholics Ananymous.
