Pretty good issue. Way better than the July issue of F&SF I read a couple of months ago. The only story that bored me was Robert Chase’s. "Midnight Blue" was my favorite.

An OK issue with no great stories.

"In the Age of the Quiet Sun" - William Barton 3.5/5
Asteroid miners discover an alien spaceship. Entertaining, but really nothing new.
"The Ice War" - Stephen Baxter 3.5/5
Ice creatures invade the Earth in the early 1700's in a kind of alternate version of War of the Worlds. Fun, but not that much to it.
"Soldier of the Singularity" - Robert R. Chase 3/5
A psychologist talks to a robot from a post-human army. Cynical view of the Singularity.
"Slug Hell" - Steven Utley 2/5
Time-traveling researchers in the distant past think about things they miss from the future. Dull.
