After the previous battle, Cassie, fused with a Soul Rider, navigates a new threat: the Nine, rulers of Hell, establishing their empire to conquer the world.

Following the initial battle, the Nine evil rulers plot to invade and corrupt the world by creating their empire, challenging the delicate balance between the chaotic Flux and the controlled Anchor. Cassie and her merged Soul Rider realize Anchor is corrupt and that Flux is actually the source of Anchor's existence.
In the war between good and evil in the previous book, over control of the Flux, unfornately evil won, at least temporarily. The forces of good must reform, and try again to take control back.
