This book could have been much better, if it had been a bit more selective in the collected papers. The editors allow a little too much gullibility to slip into the pages of the book, giving way too much space to conspiracy theories that have been solidly debunked. Other than that, there were some decent things in the book, but like all collections of papers, the quality and the interest were spotty.
This book begins where You Are Being Lied To left off. Once again, an amazing group of investigative journalists, researchers, insiders, dissidents, and academics peels back consensus reality and shows us what's really happening. Hard, documented evidence on the most powerful institutions and controversial topics in the world. Among the revelations: Antidepressants trash your brain.China has repeatedly threatened to nuke the US.Young people are less violent now than they have been in over 30 years.Mad Cow disease is killing people in America.Plus previously unpublished revelations about the International Monetary Fund, the Vatican Bank, the Olympic Games, Henry Lee Lucas, the drug war in South America, unpublicized accidents at nuclear show more power plants, and much more. Includes reproductions of rare documents and photos, including an unpublished eyewitness sketch of a mysterious third gunman at Columbine.Among the 50 contributors: Naomi Klein - Douglas Rushkoff - Arianna Huffington - Howard Zinn - Paul Krassner - Gary Webb - Howard Bloom - Noreena Hertz - Alexander Cockburn - Thomas Szasz - William Blum - James Ridgeway - Kalle Lasn - Wendy McElroy show less
Like all the other Disinformation Guides, this one is dense and best taken in small doses over time. Despite sometimes feeling like a compilation of conspiracy theory, all of the pieces are heavy with outside references and clearly put forth.
I'm sure this would be an interesting book if I could get through it at all. It's so dense and covers such heavy material that it doesn't make for good bathroom reading, and it's so depressing that it's no good anywhere else.
This is a fascinting book about commonly believed lies and shocking information that the public doesn't really know.
