Summery: This book is about Big Bird and what he wants to be when he grows up. He thinks about being an artist, or an astronaut, or maybe even an acrobat! The emphasis is the letter A. Big Bird lays in bed dreaming about all the different options, makes a wish on the first star that appears, and goes to sleep.

Reflection: Although it is short, it is very cute. At one point or another, I've wanted to be every occupation Big Bird has dreamed of.

I like the fact that the book puts the letter "A" in bold lettering throughout the book.

Extension Ideas: I think it'd be a great idea to have several people with different occupations come into the classroom and speak a little about their careers. This could include a fireman, nurse, and musician. show more Another idea would be to have the chilren write about what they'd like to be when they grow up, and have them dress as they would dress in that chosen career. show less
Colorful illustrations, but the "puzzle" nature of the book meant that in our house the narrow edges at top and bottom got pretty hammered. Text is o.k.
