They meet in a ferocious snowstorm. She is a young teacher with a secret past. He is the cool, black-caped stranger who unexpectedly comes to her rescue. Between these two unlikely strangers, desire is instantaneous...and utterly impossible to resist. But Frances knows her place, and it is far from the privileged world of the sensual aristocrat. Due to begin her teaching position at Miss Martin's School in Bath, Frances must try to forget that one extraordinary night - and the man who touched her with such exquisite tenderness and abandon. So tedious. Just tell him your sad story, girl! ( )

The story of Frances Allard and Lucius Marshall. It's a near perfect historical romance. Only flaw was that the secret around why Frances couldn't marry Lucius dragged on too long. The best of the story was whenever Lucius was "on stage", He was not the most admirable of men, but everything he did he did passionately.

There were times in this book that I had to stop and wonder at how much pathos it had, especially around the friendships between the women at St Martin's School. ( )

I quite enjoyed it. There were several instances where the hero threatened to throttle the heroine which I could have done without!... but over all it was a fun one. ( )

Loved this, and I really enjoyed their story of falling in love then the many happenings to actually be together. I look forward to seeing Frances and Lucius again to get more of a glimpse at their HEA, and as usual I’m always so grateful to have so many more Balogh’s to read. ( )

This was really quite a lovely novel. I was a bit worried after reading some less-than-stellar reviews, but I shouldn't have been. I liked that Frances was still able to pursue a career in singing as well as winning the viscount, and Lucius was really rather nice. I enjoyed his family, as well. I'm most looking forward to Susanna's book, but I'm sure I'll like the others' stories, too. I also really like that the heroines are all teachers. ( )
