( ) The story of Frances Allard and Lucius Marshall. It's a near perfect historical romance. Only flaw was that the secret around why Frances couldn't marry Lucius dragged on too long. The best of the story was whenever Lucius was "on stage", He was not the most admirable of men, but everything he did he did passionately. There were times in this book that I had to stop and wonder at how much pathos it had, especially around the friendships between the women at St Martin's School. This was really quite a lovely novel. I was a bit worried after reading some less-than-stellar reviews, but I shouldn't have been. I liked that Frances was still able to pursue a career in singing as well as winning the viscount, and Lucius was really rather nice. I enjoyed his family, as well. I'm most looking forward to Susanna's book, but I'm sure I'll like the others' stories, too. I also really like that the heroines are all teachers. no reviews | add a review
