Description

Josie Flynn is in New York for the wedding of Martha, her American cousin. Having just been through a messy divorce, she's hardly in the mood to don a lilac bridesmaid's dress, especially when she thinks Martha is about to marry the wrong man. In fact, Josie is all for talking Martha out of what could be the biggest mistake of her life. Which is all very noble, until Josie meets Matt Jarvis and appears to be about to fall for the wrong man herself. And when an ex-husband, an old flame, a show more dubious boy-band and a seriously determined duck enter the picture who can tell where it will all end . . . show less

OK, so it was a bit light & fluffy, but it's actually not a bad listen.
Josie Flynn is about to divorce her no-good-rat of a husband, Damien. She's heading out to New York to attend her cousin's wedding. Josie's less than impressed with her cousin's intended and asks all the pertinant questions - none of which make Martha change her mind about the rightness of Jack. Once it's all a bit too late, things change - as you might expect. Josie is also having relationship issues of her own, with her soon-to-be ex-husband chasing after her, swooning over the Best Man and the slightly inept journalist she met on the plane over.
Mildly diverting, with some moments of genuine hilarity.
I usually do not do audio books, but made an exception for the trip to VT. Although classified as a romance, this book was a comedy of errors - like Shakespear's "Midsummer Nights Dream." Josie is coming to the US to be in her cousin's wedding. She meets Matt, a rock journalist, on the airplane and they click. Meanwhile, other characters are introduced that fall in love with the wrong people. Craziness abounds. It is fast paced and interesting - so interesting that we were disappointed to have to stop driving! This is more fun than a chick flick or an actual film and would appeal to both men and women.

Eh. It wasn't funny, really, and some of it was frankly ridiculous. I just wanted to finish it, which is not a good sign.
