There's nothing particularly wrong with this, but it's also not particularly interesting. I appreciate reading Moore who doesn't just glue together literary references, though Tom Strong is still weakened by the winky-wink, walking-cliche nature of every character and situation.
A cheesy amalgam of Doc Savage with other early superheroes, he can't decide whether to be serious with it, or get stupid.
So, it mostly comes across as boring with, more often than not, stories that only threaten to happen, but really kind of don't.
Not Moore's best work.

I'm not always the biggest Alan Moore fan, but as I believe I've said before, his work for America's Best Comics is some of my favorite of his. This is a beautiful comic, aping Doc Savage, but I enjoy this more than I ever have a Doc Savage tale.
A light and fun superhero comic, with some interesting themes. Tom Strong is happily married, was brought up in isolation by scientifically-minded parents. He seems very much like Superman in that he sees no moral ambiguity about the world (or if he sees it, he ignores it.) Nice touches like Pneuman the robot and King Solomon the intelligent (and quite naff) ape. Over-the-top villains like an AI Aztec god, a magician/villain somewhat reminiscent of Moloch from Watchmen and a Nazi superwoman make for a fun romp.
Quite entertaining, but also utterly ridiculous, and the immortal Nazis felt just a tad hackneyed.
Interesting. I know everyone says Tom Strong is supposed to be Superman-like but I don't quite see the parallels. I did like all the characters and going back and forth between new/current stories and previous stories. I definitely plan on checking out at least the next volume.
