Description

In 1862 the largest Indian uprising in American history occurred in southern Minnesota. Hundreds of whites were killed. Women were taken captive. Taken captive by the Sioux, Judith Raveling is given to Scarlet Plume, one of the many warriors who know their cause is lost. Born in Iowa, Manfred has lived much of his life in southern Minnesota. Most of his novels are set in southern Minnesota and the Dakotas, and his Native American characters are usually Sioux. A fine storyteller, Manfred does extensive historical research, which gives his books a sense of authenticity.
