So facile in its remarks on human nature and so comfortably certain about the positive effects of Christian institutions as to be unreadable. This is a pity, because Wibberley seems to have been almost as accomplished a naturalist as T.H.White and his descriptions are detailed and lovely. Even in the context of the book he can still manage many a humorous passage, but it's just not worth the slog.
King Arthur returns to help Britain out of its modern post-war bureaucracy. I don't remember much of the plot, but I remember some stunning moments of description. And I remember it being funny, though perhaps not as funny as the Mouse that Roared.
