About meSerious bibliophile. Eternal student.

My mom has a catalogue of her books (which number in the thousands) on her computer (she took a few Microsoft classes and made her own - very nice, I must say), and eventually I was going to get around to doing the same thing, until I saw someone with this on their blog. So naturally I had to have one. And here I am.

I'm a Slytherin, baby, and PROUD OF IT!

And since we're on the subject of The Boy Who Lived, I will admit that I am somewhat interested (read: OBSESSED) with getting the books in foreign languages. I have 1 in Irish Gaelic, Ancient Greek, & German; 1-2 in Latin; the whole set in Spanish, French & Russian; now I'm working on getting 2-7 in German, & 1-7 Italian, and Portuguese. So there are some books in my Harry Potter collection that I may not actually sit and read all the way through, but they are there (and I'm buying them because I would love to be able to read them in those languages one day).
---

About my libraryLots and lots of "Urban Fantasy" - which basically means I love the supernatural in modern settings. The first author I read in this genre was Laurell K. Hamilton, followed by Kelley Armstrong. They were the big 2 for a while, until I found Kim Harrison. I was up to 3! Then came L. A. Banks, and now I have quite the collection (as you will see when I finish the cataloging). I have read a lot of them, most are still unread but I will get there eventually - I have faith in myself.

When I have time to spare for television, you'll find me watching much of the same. Buffy, Angel, Charmed, Heroes, Supernatural, Moonlight, Ghost Whisperer, Forever Knight, Firefly, Smallville (I couldn't resist, Superman was the man when I was a kid). I also love love love Scrubs, CSI (all 3 sets), Bones, Without A Trace, NUMB3RS, The Elventh Hour, Mythbusters, Smash Lab, and then there are lots of educational kid shows I watch with the cutie you see in the picture (my now 3 year old daughter - who did not like the idea of being in a giant bubble, even with Mommy). Classic kids shows we watch are Fraggle Rock, Sesame Street, The Muppet Show. And by watch I mean I sit in the same room - usually with a book propped open while she scampers around and dances to the music on the shows.

As a testament to his awesomeness, my boyfriend gave me a Kindle for my birthday. So expect there to be some increases in the amounts of books as I add in all the ones I'm downloading onto my Kindle. That thing is seriously awesome, and anyone who wants to have a large collection of items to read without having to have the large space to keep books should seriously consider getting one.

Yes, I finally had the baby. It was a loooong pregnancy. More than half of it was on bed rest and high risk so it seemed to crawl. I still had her a month early but she is very healthy! I still feel like I am in a fog since sleep is unheard of but there are so many books I need to catch up on. Anything stellar I need to track down? I am currently reading White Witch, Black curse. Then I will read the next Charlaine Harris.

Hope all is well :)
You have great taste in books!!! I need to quit looking through your library or I'm going to have more books coming in at the library than I can carry.
How was Jailbait Zombie? I ready the first in the series, The Nymphos of Rocky Flats and wasn't transported or anything. Still, maybe it gets better. What did you think?

~Leah
Thanks for lending it to me. ;) I'm kinda poking around at the collection with it - I have to say, it's a helluva lot easier to swipe this thing than it is to type everything in! Love you!
Hey, how was your Christmas? Did you finally get an ER book? Is it Jailbait Zombie? I so wanted that one!

~Leah
I should probably mention that I stole the tickler idea from Heidi. Always nice to give credit.

Leah
Hey, have you seen these ticklers. Very cute. Ignore the baby stuff, I used an exercise one. Btw, did you get an early reviewer book this time around? I got three in the past couple months but nothing this time. I feel like I've been kicked out of the club. Ha!

Hope the Christmas shopping is going well. I have entirely too many relatives, so it's slow going over here.

Leah
Hi. I am currently going thru Abby's Psychic Eye mysteries. I am hooked on them.

Things have been hectic w/ the start of the new school term. However, I have still been able to squeeze in leisure reading. A complete must for proper brain function!

My eldest is dressing up as a vampire and my little one is dressing up as a spider princess which is similar to a goth style dress with a headband full of spiders. It is pretty cute that she wants to imitate her big sis. So how old is your little one now? They do tend to grow quickly. Or time flies faster the older you get. Not sure which it is but the result is the same.

Happy Halloween!!! Trick or treating is fun. You get to see cool costumes. Enjoy the munchkin :)
Hi! I am reading the second Harper Connelly mystery (Charlaine Harris). It's not bad so far. I've read the following in the last two weeks:

First Victoria Laurie, Psychic Eye Mystery - enjoyed it, waiting on the next in the series from library.
First two Dresden Files - pretty good, next two on request at library.
Kushiel's Mercy - awesome series, all of them. Highly recommend.
Acheron - awful. Seriously, do not bother with this author, don't know why I did.
High Stakes - ok, sometimes a bit funny but it's all about the romance which I have to be in the mood for.

My son is in T-ball and gymnastics so Oct. has been pretty busy. Fortunately, he will be done with T-ball Nov 1st (though it has been lots of fun). Both my kids cannot wait for Halloween. My daughter is going to be a princess (I got her a gorgeous gold barbie ball gown at Target). My son is going to be an astronaut for the third year in a row. Do you dress up for Halloween? Last time I did was about 8 years ago when I went to a Tarts & Vicars party.

~Leah
Really? You found the cover for the Kitty #6. That is so cool. I'll have to put mine up soon too. I just finished the latest Kitty book. I love that series. She writes so well and manages the perfect amount of humor and plot. Thank you for the recommendation. Did you ever read the Keri Arthur one after all?

So what are your thoughts of True Blood now? I am a bit disappointed in Pam. The jury is still out on whether I like Eric or not. He wasn't cast as fabulous as in the book but we will see how he carries himself in the upcoming shows. I am getting used to Bill though. Tara still bugs me too. But I am addicted to it and will hold on to watching them weekly.

I am starting Pure Blood today. Looks like it will be good. But I know I am rushing thru it because I am due to receive 3 books in the mail tomorrow: Succubus on Top, Faefever and Storm Born. All of which I have heard wonderful reviews. So I will be locked away in my room for sometime :) Gotta get it all in before class starts up!!

So little time :)
Ok! I will give it a shot. You know, typically I prefer a woman protagonist but I decided to try reading Jim Butcher and Simon R. Green. So what's one more! Let me know what you think of Simon R. Green's stuff. Finished The Thirteenth Tale and it was very good.

~Leah
Hey! How have you been? I've had Ike over to visit. Didn't like him much, won't ask him back. SOB took all the power with him too. I didn't realize how addicted to LB I was until I couldn't get online. Still no power so went to the in-laws to mooch. Have you read any Simone Green? Didn't see it in your library. Currenlty reading The Thirteeth Tale which is pretty good. What are you reading?

~Leah
Yeah, I did see it. Quite graphic, I too was glad I put the kids down to sleep before watching it. It is slightly different than the book and some characters were a little left of center for me but I did enjoy it. I am trying to think of it independently from the books, otherwise I would nit pick it to death. The character that bugged me the most is Tara's. That is not at all the way she was written. Anyway, looking forward to the next one:) What were your thoughts?
Cool library, yourself! I've read the Anya Bast books too, though they're not on my librarything yet. Also, big Whedon fan. I went to Can't Stop the Serenity Denver this year - have you ever gone?
Heidi
Actually, I have read the Kelley Armstrong series. I did enjoy it quite a bit until she got into Eve's story. I found that book to be very odd. I haven't read the last book though. Maybe I will check it out. I wonder if she has gotten back to the good stuff again.

I LOVE the Sookie series. I am dying to watch the HBO series coming out this Sunday. I wonder what they will do to it. I am afraid to know what they will change but I hope they keep the good stuff. It is called True Blood.

I have put the Yasmine Galenorn series on hold and will check that one out next. I am currently reading the 3rd Dante Valentine book. (Have you read that one yet? I really enjoy this series.) Once I finish that one, I will read the Kitty ones. I picked all those up from the library today. I am thoroughly excited I have so much to read this week.

Did you finish the Keri Arthur one yet? Let me know what you think.

Anyway, back to household stuff so I can sit down and read once it is done :) There just isn't enough time in the day!
I do the same thing! I usually have several I'm reading at the same time. Hmmm. Wonder how many books I've read this year.... Something else to count, tag and obsess about. Let's here it for bibliotech!
Have you seen the new cover for At Grave's End! Oh, it's gorgeous. Love this series, can't wait.
I really loved the summoning, I read it so quickly, just can't wait 'til the next one.

I have been really good with the book diet, but can not resist a good bargain.

K.
Well i counted my TBR shelves at home and there are 92 books to read. I think I could go on a book diet for the next 12 months... but don't tell the hubby! :)

I read Cast in Shadows, Michelle West (Sagara, whatever!) and really loved it, but when checking my shelves realised I had book 3 not book 2. So have bought on ebay and getting sent to work, so naughty but he will never notice, there are 92 on the shelf already, one more is a mere grain of sand in the desert!

Did you pick up anything exciting in Borders?
this is such a great place to pick up ideas for new books to try! My husband has put me on a book diet for the month of June, I can read but not buy, I sold a lot on ebay, but I have just spent it on more books! You had some really good series that I might just try, well, after June that is!

Kitten
Hi!

Thanks for adding my library to your interesting libraries. :) As soon as my cat code barcode scanner arrives I'll have a tonne of books in there. I don't know if you saw on my profile, but I also have a Paranormal/Urban Fantasy Book Review blog at http:/sidhevicious.bravejournal.com/ If you ever need any suggestions for new authors or books, feel free to ask. Have a great week!
