Short biography
A native of the dust bowl, Rachel Vincent is the oldest of five siblings, and arguably the most outspoken of the bunch. She loves cats, devours chocolate, and lives on flavored coffee. Rachel’s older than she looks—seriously—and younger than she feels, but remains convinced that for every day she spends writing, one more day will be added to her lifespan.

Girl that finds out she's a banshee in Name that Book (October 2015)

Reviews

I loved the premise of this book and enjoyed it. There was some overblown dialog and simplification of situations, but it remained a great start to a series. When I say 'overblown', it felt at times that some of the dialog was pulled from a series from the 80s/90s. Also, there were some dark things that happened in the book that I felt Ms Vincent didn't allow her characters fully invest and/or internalize.

I will definitely move on to the next books and hope that some of the situational and dialog issues get smoothed out.… (more)

It was an intriguing read that held me up until the end but the overall story arc was predictable. The ending itself felt like the story spiraled a bit out of control and a bit too reactive for my taste. The actions and reactions seemed rash without background or really anchored in the careful base of the story.

It was such a fast pace read. I really loved the main character and the world that was built. I grew to love the main characters. The world was scary but also so fascinating... It was great quick read. I hope to read the sequel whenever it comes out. I liked the unexpected twists and turns and really grew to love the main character
