About meI read. Then I write. Then I eat.

My short story "Something in the Mermaid Way" appears in Realms: The First Year of Clarkesworld Magazine, and will also appear in Fantasy: The Best of the Year, 2008 Edition.

My short story "Potholes" appears in Apex Digest Online.

My short story "Invasive Species" will appear in PHANTOM, an anthology edited by Paul Tremblay and Sean Wallace, coming autumn 2008.

About my libraryBooks tagged 'wacky' (mainly religious and conspiracy-theory works) don't get rated because my pleasure in them is proportional to how bad they are - so would five stars mean surprisingly good or laugh-out-loud bad?

Books tagged 'seed' inspired or are quoted somewhere in my own writing.

I am always interested in book recs and happy to answer questions about my odder titles.

Thanks for leaving that comment about the extinct species... good to know I'm not completely alone in my crazy fantasy of cheerfully raising an extinct wild animal in a small NY apartment.
Glad you enjoyed it! It sure was a sight to see!
Engel's Lord High Executioner is not a bad book for general readers interested in executioners. I do not mean to sound dismissive by that; but since the subject of executioners was the core of my master's thesis, the distinction I'm making is between deep scholarly analysis and anecdotal, gossipy, fun reading. Engel's is certainly in the latter category. That being said, it's not really bad at all and certainly a cut above Geoffrey Abbott's books on the subject.
Thanks for posting your bird sightings. I'm hoping this site will become more active. I've never seen a bay-breasted warbler, altho' I grew up in Ontario's far north. If only I'd become a birder at an early age!
Just thought I would say hello. We share some interesting books. I love your 'wacky' collection. I used to read a lot of Bob Larson for fun when I was in middle school.
Hiya!

Looking forward to talking bout the books!
