Lulu is a cat whose life is just the way she likes it - until her human brings home a rescue dog called Gus. Lulu gives Gus a chance...and another...and another...but still doesn't want a "loud and rude" dog. But Lulu's opinion of Gus changes when she falls out of a tree into some water, and Gus rescues her.
Molk (There Might Be Lobsters) is one of my favorite illustrators; there's a perfect blend of elegance and humor here. Front endpapers show Lulu's favorite things (half of them are show more napping), and back endpapers show Gus's favorite things. show less

Izzy likes to make and construct a variety of things. She takes up knitting and does well at it until she tries to knit herself a sweater. Despite many attempts, she still can't get the sweaters where she wants them. It turns out however, that she can remake them into sweaters for dogs. A reassuring book about the value of mistakes, reiterations, and failures. As Izzy says: "It's not quite what I intended, but in some ways, it's even better."
A girl who is practiced at making things takes up knitting, but cannot make a sweater. Izzy overcomes her frustration with a different fix: a sweater for her dog, Max.
I find Laurel Molk's illustrations enchanting (There Might Be Lobsters) and her text here is perfectly paced and balanced as well.
