I think maybe I would have gotten more out of this book at a certain time in my life. For what it is, it is very good. The theology is mostly good (with some important slips, but overall it is good), and many of the points excellent.
I would recommend it to others who are struggling with certain image issues, but for others a summary would work just fine. I liked the focus on Christ here, which puts this book above almost all of its competitors.

My church offered this workbook as one of the small group study options, but the workbook application was fairly independent for attendees. I love that it can be used independently. I didn't love being prompted to write the lies and being encouraged to write a reflection of poor past choices in the margin. I found that slightly negative and unnecessary. The text was insightful and gave me a different perspective on how I view myself and others. I really did enjoy it. I would recommend it to show more a friend. show less
This is not for the faint of heart, nor for those who are comfortable with the need to be in control. If you are looking to the Lord to transform your thinking and therefore behaviors this is the book for you. Move from the bondage of Perfectionism, Performance, the Fear of Failure... and take hold of the wonderful Freedom you have in Christ and what that really means to you -- I.E. Because of Christ's redemptive work, you ARE Deeply loved, Completely Forgiven, Fully Pleasing, totally show more accepted by God, and absolutely complete in Christ.

Conquering chemical dependency: Facilitator's guide : a Christ-centered 12-step process (Life support group series) by Robert S. McGee
Excellent guidebook for working the steps, with extensive instructor directions. Well thought out, with scripture references for each step. This is for seriously scripturally minded people in recovery, but will work for beginners as well as seasoned sober saints.
