This was a really short read with not all that much story to it. But still, with its beautiful mountain scenery, an unexpected storm, and a couple looking towards their future together, it did leave me with a nice and cozy feeling.
Romance in the Mountains by Terry Atkinson
Nice short story about promise of things to come as they take in the scenery and each other til the rain comes, unepectedly.
Just like their lives, things happen....
Prequel to other longer stories.
I bought Confetti in the Corner for a quilt class. I made two quilts using this book. Actually, I started to make just one quilt with alternating bocks but they didn’t go together as I expected. I made Christmas quilts using panel blocks for the middle of the blocks. The technique is easy enough to learn using the illustrations in the front of the book. The author also includes some worthy comments about fabric selection for scrap quilts (my favorite). I doubt if I will use this book show more again, at least not in the near future. The fabric selections in the sample quilts appeal to me about 40% of the time. There are several directions for sampler quilts which I do not generally find appealing. I prefer repeating the same block using different fabrics.

This book would make a good basis for a quilt class as the directions are well written and the beginning of the book begins with some good chip dip recipes which would be a fun addition to a quilt class. Another feature of Confetti in the Corner is the copy ready pages to color in to plan your quilt.

I really loved making this Bricks and Stones quilt (~page 19). All of the other quilts in this book look great as well. I'm mostly finished, just adding the border and then the top will be complete. I found that the instructions were clear and the pictures were great. All and all this is a better of quilt books than some others I have messed with. In the future I would not hesitate to buy more books from Atkinson Designs.
