This review is for Nobody’s Hero , author Laura Trentham’s entry in Rescued : A Collection of Contemporary Romances with Heart, Heat and Dog Treats.

Nobody’s Hero is just what you would expect from talented author Laura Trentham: an intriguing plot populated with sweet, sexy characters (whether they realize it or not) that you can’t help but love, a story that draws you in and makes you feel warm and comfy. And add in a dog? It’s a winner.

Clayton is a good guy. Not just a good guy, show more a capable, considerate, romantic, and oh-so-handsome-it-makes-you-swoon good guy, who has a big soft spot for stray dogs. Some bad choices and bad breaks have him on the fringe of Cottonbloom’s accepted society, trying to ease the suspicion so many have of him. His soft spot suddenly extends to women who are beautiful but shy, introverted, and repeatedly undervalue themselves with self-doubt. Namely Maggie. Turns out Maggie has had a secret thing for Clayton for a while now. Also turns out that Maggie has another secret – she’s a successful romance author. She doesn’t really want either of those secrets to get out, but when she and Clayton come together to care for that stray dog, sparks fly, secrets and feelings are revealed, and we’re well on our way to that HEA we love so much.

Author Trentham packs a lot into this novella. The characters are well-drawn and have depth, and the plot moves along at a brisk, fun pace, filled with humor, sweetness and heat. Trentham’s stories always make you feel warm and satisfied and Nobody’s Hero is no exception. Thanks to the author for an advance copy in exchange for my reading pleasure and honest review. I loved it and look forward to reading the rest of the stories in what promises to be a delightful collection of dog tales. All opinions are my own.

This book breaks two 'rules' of romance and erotica - and breaks them delightfully.

Erotica isn't supposed to be light and flirty - and light romance isn't supposed to be erotic, in the minds of many.

Compromising positions is both.

I'm glad i put this aside to read when I could enjoy it, and not over the Christmas/New year rush! The characters each have their own agenda and (as traditional) are at cross purposes. The supporting characters also have their own aims (hinted at early in the book show more but not made explicit) which tie in neatly. In some ways, this novel reminds me of (good!) regency romance even if the setting is thoroughly this century. Cross purposes, flirtation, teasing - all there in full measure. As a bonus, the leads (both of them!) actually have intelligence and wit and behave as adults . . . something all too rare in many novels of whatever style.

Grab a copy, and set it aside for an enjoyable evening or two.

Jacy Weston is desperate! She's done everything right. Studied hard, gotten her degree, started her own Vet practice. In all that time, she's forgotten to take a little time for herself. So nearing her 30th birthday alone, lonely, and still a virgin has pushed her to her limits. Her overprotective family is any help so when she fills out an online dating application she may have one or two little white lies. Like her real name and where she's really from. What could it hurt, right?

Ray show more Mitchell doesn't want to date. Marriage isn't for him - been there done that - so why bother dating? Giving in to the pressure of his family, he signs up for an online dating service and is matched up with Jacy immediately. Now can he trust her?? Because above all else, honesty is a must!

I really enjoyed this fun quick read. It's well written, good pace, and has great characters. I would definitely recommend this one.

“The most important thing is to enjoy your life– to be happy– it's all that matters.”

A road trip with a hot guy and some oh-so-amazing scenes, what's not to love?

Xavier is the best part of the book. He is the good looking guy, who listens when a girl talks, who speaks french fluently, who likes to have fun and knows how to enjoy life. *swoons*

Jamie is responsible, she has never done anything crazy. She has never been involved in a relationship that has no future, but she is taking a show more chance with Xavier.

What starts as a no-strings-attached, fun-on-the-trip relationship gets serious and when the time comes to go separate ways they have to figure out their feelings for each other.

The book is light, fun. I love road trips with unusual stops and they go to a "sex-museum".... enough said!!.
