If this had been just the first novella in the series, it would have gotten four stars. But I found the collection a little uneven. And one book used sex as a cure for sexual trauma, which I don’t love. And the last book apparently featured a POC male lead, which I only realized when I happened to click on the individual cover. The words “african american” or “black” were never used.
Again, kind of uneven. The hero is sweet, and his side of things is light-hearted and fun. The heroine is maybe meant to be dark, but just comes across as stilted. Her backstory is not enough to explain living in the woods for six years all on her own.
My first book by this author, hopefully not my last. I enjoyed the characters. Hero is an alpha while remaining kind and loving. Heroine doesn't balk at the challenge of finding out he's not all human. I l-o-v-e-d when she gave his family the comeuppance they deserved for acting like idiots over a dumb prophecy.
Very good. I would have liked to see more about the speech impediment and possibly see if resolve more slowly -- it was great to note that the h had done her homework and was totally prepared to manage it.

I would have like a little more backstory and character development. A longer format would have made the story hang togehter more and built a more solid foundation for a series.

However, this was a good start.
