Julia Mills really is on a role with this series, in book 4 things are no easier for the Dragon and his Chosen.
Because of his past Royce refuses to listen to his heart or his dragon when it comes to Kyra, be damned if they are fated or not he wants nothing to do with her. I think the reason this book was so great is that we have gotten to know Royce through all the other books and it is so good to see it is finally his turn if he would just let the past go. Kyra just wants to be happy and show more get revenge for what Andrew did to her, as well as the damage he has done to those she now considers family, although she wasn't banking on how frustrating the struggling against the attraction to Royce she has, while he has made it clear he does not want her yet also shows glimpses he does.
I just love kyra and how much attitude and sass she has, as well as how she is the opposite to Royce's level headed and calmness which he appears to have totally forgotten how to use. There are definitely moments of frustrating and anger, as well as cheers and sadness, so make sure you get settled in when you start as you wont want t put it down until the end!

First sentence: I am stuck. I can't seem to get unstuck. Stuck? Try wiggling your feet.
Premise/plot: Turtle, our protagonist, is stuck. In this picture book, many, many animals come by and see Turtle in his stuck-ness. Each offers advice on how to get unstuck. Advice that tends to be specific to their species, and not particularly generally useful advice to help him. But one animal is different. And that difference makes all the difference in the world...
My thoughts: I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED, show more LOVED, LOVED this one. I love Turtle and Possum. I really love the direction this one took. The illustrations were SO cute and adorable. The story isn't necessarily cute and adorable. Though it could be seen that way, I suppose. I think this one could "hit" readers differently. For some it might be cute. For others it might be funny. For others it may be all too relatable. show less

Saw at the Carle. Love, love, love the design and concept of this book. Turtle is stuck, and several other animals come by to offer their advice that works for them when they are stuck ("Try wiggling your feet," says Duck), but it doesn't work for Turtle. Finally, when Turtle retreats into their shell, Possum comes along, and is the first to ask a question: "Does it hurt?" Turtle answers that it doesn't hurt, "But I feel scared, frustrated, and alone." Possum replies, "You don't have to be show more alone," and they lie there together, even through a rainstorm. Then something funny causes them to laugh so hard that Turtle gets unstuck, at which point Possum throws confetti (stashed in their pouch all along?), and the two wander off as friends.

Robinson the raccoon loves collecting things, but when he accidentally collects a shell that still contains a snail named Rosie, she shows him that there are other ways of collecting: not things, but experiences that become memories. Together, they "collect" breezes, bubbles, stars, and the aurora borealis; after these experiences, Robinson finds his things bleached of color, and longs for more not-things with Rosie instead.
