Starting a Business From Home: Your Guide to Planning Your Home Start-up, Reaching a Market and Creating a Profit (Business Success) by Colin Barrow
These concepts are very basic. For someone starting a business with no background in the process or in business economics, it’s probably a helpful resource. US-based readers should know it’s oriented to the UK, including the monetary examples and especially for the legal and accounting coverage.
Really basic help for businesses but not designed to be terribly specialist. You could find better help online to be frank but it's a good primer for those just starting out to think about what they need in place before really launching as a company. The e-commerce factor though isn't that helpful.
One of the management strategies I saw used with great success while I was in the Air Force was called management by walking around (MBWA). However, since I've been in higher education, this strategy has not been used. I believe organizations not using this strategy suffer in performance. This strategy has often come to mind recently, and I wanted to read more about it. Luckily, I found this book by Colin Barrow called Management by Walking Around (The Every Day MBA). Read more
