An alphabet-based book that uses its premise to showcase the beauty and variety of the animal world. Each letter corresponds to an animal, a strategy that I have seen in many different alphabet books. The difference here, though, are the illustrations. Each two-page spread is filled with gorgeous artwork. The detailed drawing is wonderful, and the colors are vivid, realistic, and intense. From zebras to rhinos, sharks to crocodiles, the animals are not obscure, but they are amazing. The end show more of the book is filled with several pages that divulge trivia about the animals rendered in the book, accompanied by smaller sketches.
From the moment I saw this book in the store I wanted to buy it. My daughters love animals, and this book is a lavish celebration of the animal kingdom. Practicing the alphabet while admiring the pictures is an added bonus. Also, the information at the back provides teaching points about specific animals; as my girls get older, they will appreciate that advanced material more. Currently, my girls delight in seeing many of their favorite animals in large, colorful, and attractive illustrations. This picture book is great for sharing with children, and also is a good find for adults who have an interest in zoology. show less

Nice illustrations, but really unevenly designed. Some pages have multiple animals, some do not. Some pages with multiple animals acknowledge this fact, some don't--but there is no indication that this is supposed to be a seek and find book.
Incredibly realistic illustrations, large pictures with one corresponding letter on each page
