Found Wanting by Joyce Lamb. This was a completely engrossing suspense from start to finish. Alaina Chancellor has been running from the man who fathered her child 14 years ago. As the book starts she finds out the FBI has found her and she makes a run for it to get to her son and get away. What she doesn’t know is a man, Mitch Lane, which her son’s father hired has been watching her for weeks and has every intention of taking the boy back to him. Insert craziness from here on. She is show more hit by a car, her son is taken, Mitch takes her into custody not believing her lies when she tried to tell him his employer is not who he thinks he is. As the story progresses we find out the truth and the amount of betrayal by so many people is staggering. Mitch’s character goes through quite the transformation from who he was in the beginning as he is a very bitter and emotionally shut off man due to betrayals of his own. Really liked this one.. show less
True Vision was a well written book with an interesting plot and characters. I liked the psychic element - Charlie was empathic. This is the first book in a three book series about Charlie and her sisters, all of whom evidently have some sort of psychic ability that will be addressed more in future books. We don't really know much about the male protagonist, Noah, other than the fact that he is a cop from Chicago and has suffered loss in his job that has affected him deeply. The book had 68 show more chapters, which for me, disrupted the flow of the story making it difficult to maintain a connection with the story and characters. Also, the beginning of the book is riddled with instances of telling vs. showing which also made it tough to initially connect with the characters or story. show less
True Colors was much better than the first book in this series. We get to know both main characters, and it is easy to connect with them. Like her sister, Alex is an empath. Her empathy is much stronger than her sister's, however, which creates physical as well as emotional issues that she can't control. The male protagonist, John, has caught the attention of a serial killer from his past, and as a result, everyone he cares about, especially Alex, is in danger. As in the first book, True show more Vision, there is a side story that isn't really developed, which leaves the reader feeling cheated, but otherwise this was an excellent story. show less
