I understand the importance of setting up the "why," but I felt much of the middle material is redundant. It took far too long to get to the "how." The book is good and insightful, but tends to repeat itself too many times in an effort to reinforce how important the topic is. I thought the appendices were especially helpful though.
Was hoping for more "meat" from the book. A good introduction to prayer and some inspiring stories, but probably more for people who are new to the Christian faith and concept of prayer.

It also feels like the author spends as much time talking up his other books as he does on the subject matter of this one.
The wisdom of using God's wisdom is written about in Daniel Henderson's "The Prayer God Loves to Answer:..." It's been an easy, simple read about becoming a new and improved person while remodeling old relationships and making new relationships. After all, isn't life all about people whether we like them or not. I write that as a jest. I feel better equipped for prayer and trying again during another year to right my wrongs and trying not to fear reaching out to others near and far. I look show more forward to looking at other books by this author. For now, I know it's about "poetry." show less
NCLA Review -Senior pastor Daniel Henderson, who has brought prayer-based revitalization to several large churches, teaches in this book that seeking God’s face when we pray is “transforming prayer.” He stresses we should seek His face, His very essence, not His hands, that we should come to Him with a desire to know Him better and to do His will, rather than praying a grocery list of wants. Our prayers should be based on Scripture. Prayer, rightly guided by the Bible, works! It is to show more let the mind be in you that was also in Christ. This is worship-based prayer, allowing God to change us to reflect his plan for us. Prayer leads us to know His assignments for us each day because prayer is about listening more than speaking. Understanding God by first seeking his face enables us to tap into the spiritual empowerment that is already ours, that is, it enables us to magnify God through our thoughts and actions. It is a continual conversation between our hearts and God’s. Seeking God’s face, we come to see the truth that sets us free. Rating: 4 —EB show less
