Death to PowerPoint! Program Director from the World Bank learns that giving people lots of information and showing them lots of charts communicates very little (if communcation effectiveness is measured by effected change). Whereas a 29-word story provides the pivot point that begins a cultural change across a very conservative organization. A little laboured, and sometimes over-written, the book itself is a useful story for Change and Knowledge Managers everywhere - if only to give show more credibility to right-brained, creative management. show less
The Age of Agile is an excellent book about the revolution in how the most prosperous companies meet and exceed customers’ needs and successfully engage their employees.
The second part of the book takes a deep dive into the shareholder value thinking. The book offers a plethora of interesting case studies and a little deeper analysis of the agile transformation conducted in Microsoft. All presented companies focus on building trusting, purpose-driven networks of small task groups show more throughout their organisations, as they could spontaneously react to new market demands. Excellent. A great reminder to slow down, engage people, and give them a good framework of why so much work must be accomplished.
