Succeeding as an International Student in the United States and Canada (Chicago Guides to Academic Life) by Charles Lipson
As an academic librarian, I read this book to help me tailor instruction to our large population of international students. The sections on research, citation, and libraries were so good, I read the entire book and plan to use tips from it for all my students. It covers everything from idiomatic speech, dating mores, and ATMS to talking with professors, using campus resources, and housing. I'd strongly recommend this for international students and for an university's International Students' show more Office. show less

This is a very useful little book for anyone writing research papers, particularly if you regularly need to use more than one citation style. It has just enough explanation to get you started and includes lots of examples - including citations for websites, blogs, and other new media.
Doing Honest Work in College: How to Prepare Citations, Avoid Plagiarism, and Achieve Real Academic Success by Charles Lipson
This book was added to my library a few years ago when I was still an academic advisor at an Ontario university. It was distributed to all of our students to help them adjust to university life and understand what is and isn't okay. I didn't find the book all that helpful - it had such great potential but glossed over topics quickly and provided little in the way of depth or examples.
Doing Honest Work in College: How to Prepare Citations, Avoid Plagiarism, and Achieve Real Academic Success, Second Edition (Chicago Guides to Academic Life) by Charles Lipson
An excellent overview of academic integrity and citing source correctly. The chapters on the specific styles are very thorough, though a couple of them are out of date. However, the Part 1, Chapter 5, and Chapter 15 are pretty timeless in their presentation.
