Cally Blackman

This wonderful book is packed full of all kinds of fashion illustrations, as well as a helpful chronology narrated by Blackman, that any lover of fashion - be it history or practical application - is sure to enjoy. My only complaint is that there weren't enough illustrations; there were a tonne, but I give me more!

This is a title in the 20th century fashion series (the 20's and 30's)

A simple 30 pages packed with tidbits of the evolution of fashion (men and women) in the period between the wars.
Hemlines rose with the drop waisted lavishly adorned flapper style.
Hemlines then dropped below the knee with the sensible style reflecting the economic times.
the nude stocking...the bob...the silk satins and georgettes...pattern books arising in 1934 allowing simple but show more stylish goods to be made at home.
The list goes on.......

But the most intense impact on me was "there is nothing new under the sun"

Nice layout, but very thin, and nothing for anyone with basic knowledge of costume history.
