Uneven bio of Olivia deHavilland that contains some errors. For example on page 91 Yakima Canutt did not save Scarlett from the rapist on the bridge - he was the rapist. It was "Big Sam" who saved Scarlett. And on page 303 the author said that John Huston was 98 when he passed away when he was actually 81. The interviews with Olivia and others were well done and did provide information that was not available elsewhere, especially on the relationship between Olivia and her sister, Joan show more Fontaine. However, I did feel the author was not quite sure when the Golden Age of Hollywood ended - was it the mid 50's or early 60's - he seemed to waver. I would recommend the book to anyone interested in the life of Olivia deHavilland who is one of the last survivor's of Hollywood's Golden Age. show less
Drawing upon original interviews and his own relationship with Kerouac, Ellis Amburn reveals an inner man who has not appeared in any previous biography-a man torn by his conflicting desires and beliefs. Subterranean Kerouac has been singled out as one of the most significant biographies to appear in years, and it shows how Kerouac struggled throughout his life with poverty, alcoholism, and his doubts about his own lifestyle of substance abuse, indolence, and promiscuity.
Dark star, the Roy Orbison story by Ellis Amburn
Starts when there is talk of his reckless stunts he'd show off to the fans.
Like haring the back story of his life and the problems he had with his eyes as I also have major eye issues.
Love how he started playing his guitar. Never realized all the travel he put into his career. Covers his whole life from school age, college, married life and onward.
So sad to have lost him at such a young age, he was a great star.

Her life was even wilder and bluer than her music. Joplin's low self-esteem drove her to too much drink and too many drugs and too much sex with too many partners- both male and female. It seems there was nothing or no one she would not take into her body. People like Joplin are too much for me. Listening to her music is as close to her lifestyle as I'd like to come. She was very talented and also very, very sad.
