"The most significant historical fact of the last fifty years is the collapse of Mainline Protestantism".

A convincing argument by a Catholic intellectual who explains how so much of American politics today is driven by people driven by the same moral angst of Protestantism, but without Christ to center them. Everything from environmentalism, obsessions with food, feminism, etc. -- so many people have adopted Protestant ideas of the Social Gospel while wholly rejecting the central idea of show more Christ within that gospel. show less
This is the day the Lord has made. A butterfly floats through the sun and the shade, while dragonflies flit past the flowers and trees and grasshoppers hop in the soft morning breeze. The World Is Awake, A celebration of everyday blessings, written by Emmy Award winner and ABC News correspondent Linsey Davis with Joseph Bottum, is a lyrical, rhyming story for young children intended to make them feel safe and joyful, cradled in the hands of God.
The World is Awake is about celebrating life's everyday blessings. It's a rhyming story that inspires children to be thankful for God's blessings that surround them every day. The illustrations, that go along with the book, make it come to life. I thought this book was really sweet and it did flow really well with the rhymes that were used. It was a tad religious for my taste, but it works for little kids. I also did some research on the author and she said after her son was born she show more couldn't find books that looked like him. Knowing that made me appreciate the book more. show less

I am excited to share a new board book with my granddaughter this weekend. The World Is Awake by Linsey Davis is a colorful, rhyming story for the toddler set. Inspired by scripture, it takes a pair of siblings through a day full of wonder. God’s creation is enthusiastically explored in all its diversity. I think my granddaughter is going to love all that she can see and hear as we read this book together. Entertaining and instructional — a win-win! Highly recommended!
