This is a beautiful and joyous collection of photographs of dogs, wildly witty and profoundly perceptive. Dog lovers will treasure the intensity of expression that he succeeds in capturing, and the exactitude with which he captures the essential qualities of many different breeds. As a devoted standard poodle owner, the pairing of show-ready poodles with elaborate topiary was very apt, revealing both the beauty of the dog, and the silliness that that beauty inspires. But you don't have to be show more a dog lover to love this book -- it is a collection of stunning pictures, beautiful as studies in pure form. I got this as a Christmas present: it's a wonderful gift. show less
Wonderful photo collection with short, thought-provoking essays sprinkled throughout. With most of the photos, there's an accompanying paragraph or two of interesting facts about the breeds on display.

If you love dogs, you need to get your hands on this book.
This is a truly beautiful book. I am not even all that keen on horses and the like but this book was just amazing! I found this while looking into the dog photography Tim Flach has done. While waiting for the book Dog to arrive at our library we got this one. Tim Flach has a wonderful eye for his subject and did a great job capturing some really unique images. Some of which almost look unreal. The embryonic photos and the war apparatus pics were really neat to see. Loved the details at the show more back of the book. Learned a thing or two. This would make a great gift for a photography or horse enthusiast. show less
The ultimate folio for true dog lovers. The book is of various breeds of dogs, both common household favorites to rare, more exotic members of the canine family. The photographer's technique is superb in which he capture each dog's unique feature that it is most associated & selects the precise moment to shot his subject. Bravo!
