The Message of Sonship: At Home In God'S Household (The Bible Speaks Today Themes) by Trevor J. Burke
This is an excellent study of the theme of sonship throughout the Bible. It's marginally spoilt by some rather poor proof-reading but the content itself is clear and compelling, heart-warming and humbling. It's a work that is both academic and applied - when it plunges into deep waters, the waves it makes roll onto your shore. Thoroughly recommended. A bonus for me, having been taught New Testament by the author, was being able to 'hear' his voice as I read.
Here is a comprehensive, important, and insightful read by various contributors, on the Holy Spirit's person, role, and work as He is revealed and developed throughout the Bible.
In some cases the Holy Spirit is discussed in relation to certain sections of the Bible (for example, the Pentateuch, the historical books, synoptic Gospels, etc); and in other places, the Holy Spirit is discussed book by book (for example, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Gospel of John, Revelation, etc).
Since the subject of the show more Holy Spirit seems ignored in Christian preaching and lifestyle, I recommend this book not only for reading but as a valuable resource to have for study and reference, and a reminder of the value and importance of the Spirit in the life of a believer in Christ. show less
