This book has datasheets for 74*00 devices, S and LS, that were designed before 1985 (the publication date of this book). I'm constantly looking up datasheets and really like having them all in one place, which they are in this book. This isn't a book you read, but a book you refer to. I've been paging through mine a lot since I purchased it a few days ago.

It's obviously been out of print for a long time, so if you want a copy you'll have to look online for something used.
This looks like a great and useful book for doing lots of applied mathematics with your calculator. It even has a bibliography with more interesting books on the topics covered, including puzzles. Texas Instruments was an early maker of calculators.

An old bible that defined discrete logic chips. Still useful when the Internet isn't handy...
This book is a self-teaching introduction to solid-state electronics. Its target audience includes hobbyists, experimenters, ham radio operators, and people who like to tinker with electronics.

Each chapter begins with a glossary of key terms in the chapter and ends with a multiple-choice test. (The answers to the quizzes can be found on the last page of the book.) The chapters are designed to be studied in sequence.
