At times the meta-critical analysis got a bit much; can’t a cigarette-lighter ever just be a cigarette-lighter? But this study touched on many interesting ideas about homosexuality in mid-20th C America—-perhaps not all relevant to Hitchcock’s movie, but I’ll certainly be watching it again soon to judge for myself.
