Formatting matters -- which is why I almost returned this text to the library. But I waded into the first chapter and now own a copy of the book.
The concept -- "The Spirituality of Imperfection" -- rings true for me. Who needs spirituality if they're perfect or one day might be? The focus on story and its power to create community and foster healing also resonates. The stories come from various wisdom traditions and the community that understands their power is Alcoholics Anonymous -- and show more it all works.
I'm ready to read it (and underline) again. show less

Lots of history about AA but also a very thoughtful dissertation on addiction, it's treatment and the psychology/sociology of a "spiritual" solution to the frailties of the human condition.
Beautifully wise book, with a mindful, heartfelt approach to the lovely imperfections of our humanity. I recommend this as a must-read for spiritual seekers. xo
A wonderful book -- inspiring, accessible and thought-provoking. Through the writings of Alcoholics Anonymous and a wide variety of faith traditions -- both in commentary and wisdom stories -- the reader is guided to accept the liberating and profound truth that wholeness and serenity are found in the paradox of perfection in imperfection.
