En Garde! Being in the Main a Game of the Life and Times of a Gentleman Adventurer and His Several Companions (Game Designers Workshop) by Darryl Hany
Much more about the elegant styles of fencing and combat than the actual life of a gentleman, but still the first 'swashbuckling' game of many to come. A 'realistic' combat system without much thought about romance, or even adventures.
