This is a serious study that offers valuable perspectives on composing, performing, and listening to music. The aesthetic appeal of music as an art form and the depths of emotion in music theory.
Though I've come to disagree with Cooper's analytic method (iambs, anapests etc.) this book was a real stimulus during my student years.
