Good set up, terrible resolution. Overly simplistic explanations of the science along the way. Set in a tropical East Bay after global warming has really set in with good characters and examination of the choices and sacrifices that have to be made. That's the beginning. Unfortunately, there's a sorry slide to an illogical ending that only "works" (using that term loosely) because of the violence the author apparently despises. Sigh.

badly written, poorly conceived, and full of factoids and unexamined assumptions. also, the narrator is a lot more marysuishly dislikeable than the writer imagines. i think that last half star is for the cover.
