After 50 centuries of tribes and nation-states at war we must finally explore the roots of the conflicts within us and transform them into the context of ageless spiritual traditions and perennial wisdom.

Planet Medicine: From Stone age Shamanism to Post-Industrial Healing by Richard Grossinger
Reread this after many years. I think it accurately reflects the alternative medicine scene of the 1980s and the history of several of the methodologies that were being explored then. I haven't truly kept track, but much has changed since then.
