Nuclear Strategy and the Code of The Warrior: Faces of Mars and Shiva in the Crisis of Human Survival by Richard Grossinger
This book goes beneath the hardware and the headlines of the arms race and the polarization of the war/peace debate to the hidden drives that cause us to make wars -- the unconscious myths and belief systems that prevent us from becoming a planetary community. After 50 centuries of tribes and nation-states at war we must finally explore the roots of the conflicts within us and transform them into the context of ageless spiritual traditions and perennial wisdom.
Reread this after many years. I think it accurately reflects the alternative medicine scene of the 1980s and the history of several of the methodologies that were being explored then. I haven't truly kept track, but much has changed since then.
