It was a little weird reading about people and a city I have tangential knowledge of, even after working in it for 3 years. There is still so much to discover about Flint and this book helped to illuminate some of those secrets. Does it cover every aspect and demographic if the city? No, but it tries very hard to do so and creates a fairly broad spectrum of experiences: joyful, tragic, fearful, hopeful, and resilient.
