Spain, the Root and the Flower: an interpretation of Spain and theSpanish people. Third Edition, Expanded and Updated by John A. Crow
Though a dated, this book was very good at describing and interpreting the major events in Spanish history. It is well written and covers political as well as cultural aspects of Spanish history starting from the settling of Spain by the Iberians up to the end of the Franco Regime.
"Spain: The Root and the Flower, An Interpretation of Spain and the Spanish People" is an excellent introduction to the history, culture, and people of Spain. It is written in an engaging way by someone who not only loves and is very familiar with the world of Spain, but is also clear-headed and astute in his opinions. An enjoyable and interesting book. Highly recommended.
