I like this book because of the memories that the story brings. Grandpa bud reminds me of my own grandfather. He would go through anything just to make me happy just like grandpa bud. He would play with me, read me stories, and listen to my problems when i was down. I also liked the irony at the end of the story. When Grandpa bud made all of those meals for polly's friends just to find out that they were her imaginary stuffed animal was funny.
Nice adaptation with flap pages hiding then revealing which animal is next, with clues to make guessing easier.
This book goes over a little tiger trying to find his roar, it doesn't have too much of a lesson but it can be used as a way to exercise can help improve students' listening skills and spark their imagination. It could also start a lesson for them to make their own short story using "Charles Tiger" as a starting point. For that lesson, I believe this would be good for 1st-2nd grade.
From "Getting Dressed" to "Breakfast" to "School" to "Playtime" to "In the Park" to "On the Beach" to "Shopping" to "On the Farm" to "At the Party" to "Music Time" to "Bathtime" to "Bedtime" -- a child narrates what they do at each with simple sentences, illustrated in rebus form (i.e., "I take off my slippers.").
