I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is one of those books that builds on itself. It would be fun to turn this book into a song, and then let the kids sing along or talk with you while you are reading. It is a funny, interactive book to read. It begins with the simple ingredients of how to make a cake, and then dives into everything else that goes into making a cake, including the work behind the specific ingredients. The genre is informational fiction or realistic fiction
This repetitive story of the cake that Mack ate is a fun way to teach about repetitiveness in writing. As well as using visualizing to let the students create what the cake looks like and WHO actually is Mack to them while their eyes are closed. 1st grade- 2nd grade
A cumulative tale about the chain of events surrounding the making of a cake by a farmer's wife, eventually leading to its consumption in surprising circumstances.
