I listened to this work in audio book format. The presentation and the selection of Biblical stories from the old and new testaments are outstanding. As all readers know, the Bible is a difficult work- not only because of its age, but because of the vast complexities involving people, places and many different times.

This book does an excellent job of presenting select stories in a clear and concise way that will appeal to both novices and those who have a deeper foundation in the Bible. show more Personally, I thought the presentation brought together many different stories so that the Bible became a more understandable whole.

Highly recommended not only for those with a religious faith, but also for non-believers like me who are still interested in this most important work.

This novelization of the “Son of God” film tells the story of Jesus Christ and His earthly ministry. Despite being a quick read, the book is relevant and reverent in the telling of the life Jesus; the recounting of the miracles performed and the lessons He taught is comprehensive. The format of the novelization is eminently readable, the story, though occasionally gritty, is realistic, powerful, and inspirational.

However, the typographical errors in the text tend to pull the reader out show more of the story and, since they are quite extensive, it’s difficult to rate the book without considering them. Therefore, the narrative itself rates a solid five stars and deserves the recommendation noted below, but the rating is reduced two stars for those uncorrected errors.

Recommended.

This book is amazing, even if you are not spiritual. If you watched the series Touched by an Angel, Roma's angel character is very similar to Roma in real life. Sweet, kind, helps others, tries to always see the best. It was a very beautiful book, especially with all the poems and Irish information. A must read! Keep a box of Kleenex nearby.
Roma Downey truly believes that when she sees a butterfly it is a special blessing or a reminder that someone she loved, who is no longer with her physically, is still with her in spirit. For me, the same is true of cardinals and others may have a different symbol that comes to them when they need it, but regardless of what it is, the idea of God's love and the love of others is the same.

Roma's faith is strong and every time she sees a butterfly, it strengthens it just a little more. This show more book is made up of poems, scriptures, song lyrics as well as stories from Roma Downey's personal life and from her well-known television series "Touched By an Angel." The graphics throughout and imagery of butterflies on most pages add to the spiritual quality of the book. The special relationship she shared with Della Reese and her friendship with Maya Angelou showed how special and inspirational both of those women were to her. The experiences Roma shares with her readers regarding the many times she has reached out in prayer for guidance from God is very encouraging. One example of Roma meeting a young woman with scars on both her wrists and her story of how the words from the television show saved her brought both tears and chills. I recommend this book to anyone exploring their faith, struggling with their faith, or strong believers as this book will inspire and motivate you to love yourself, love others and love your God. The publisher generously provided me with a copy of this book via Netgalley. show less
