Very dated. Written by a progressive New Dealer, it was certainly very critical of the Republican administrations in the 1920s. Although there was much to be critical of, it was very biased. Much better studies have been written since this book first came out in 1960, such as Michael Parrish's The Anxious Decades.
Originally written in 1931, this is really the first historical analysis of the populist movement of the 1890s.
