I really enjoyed this book, the main message is that there is always a way to have fun no matter what the weather and that family time is the key to enjoying these fun times. There are many reasons why I liked this book, one of them being the illustrations there were colorful and detailed and they draw the readers into the story as well as adding detail to the story. One picture shows the children building an igloo and the illustration shows the tiniest details from the snow flakes falling show more from the sky to the shiny ice that was forming on the igloo. Another reason I enjoyed the story is because the plot was easy to follow it made logical sense. The story goes from the children running out into the snow at the beginning of the day and follows them throughout their day. It follows them through sledding to playing with the dogs, to playing with the neighborhood children, and all the way through the day to when they finally go inside and drink hot chocolate. show less
Waking up to a snow-covered world, children dash outdoors. “We’re silly-willy laughy, feeling slightly daffy, leaping through the snow—Snow Happy!” Follow along as they playfully romp through the freshly-fallen snow: sledding, shoveling, making snow angels, and throwing snowballs. Even the woodland animals are taking part in the winter fun!
A wonderfully illustrated book that cues readers in on the wonderful things that are the color black--a color that is usually associated with bad things. It's subtle self-love and self-acceptance book for Black (or all "brown") children who don't see themselves frequently in the media.
The main idea of this story is to teach readers about all the different kind of trucks. I really enjoy how this book is set up. Each page is covered with pictures of trucks and cars driving on long and windy roads. It tells readers different things trucks do, and shows them doing it. I also liked that the writing was in a different direction on every page. Readers have to physically turn the book on some pages. It made it very fun and engaging! One thing that I didn't like about the book is show more that in some places the text was difficult to read. The color of the text blended in too much with the color of the illustrations on some pages. show less
