This is a series of essays published in 2022 by conservative Methodists as they anticipated the division of the UMC. As they cast a vision for the future of what would become the GMC, the authors looked to recover something of the historic Wesleyan heritage, appealing to the "doctrine, spirit, and discipline" Wesley spoke of.
This book by Collins is an approach that I have not read before. He took the history of John Wesley and plugged in the theological insights and problems that Wesley was wrestling with at that period of time. It is a very helpful and inciteful book. Wish I had written it, but the historical is beyond me. The combination of historical insight and theological insight is rare and Collins has found a way to present it that is also readable and helpful. Good job!

This book by Collins tells the story of John Wesley. Along with the story of John's life he tells what is going on in his life in both a religious sense and in a more personal sense. It is an excellent job of blending so you learn about the phases in Wesley's life as well as his tightening theology. An excellent job.
