The version I read is from 1975 and lacked a map (though map is indicated on the cover). I am not sure what happened to the map. There are line drawings of most of the buildings (black and white, not color) within the book. I would guess that there may have been some changes since 1975.
Overall, it was a good overview. I did learn things about Williamsburg that I hadn't known before. I will not retain everything I learned while reading this book, I am sure because there was so much show more information.

The Colonial Williamsburg Tavern Cookbook is a collection of 200 recipes from our colonial history. These recipes help to take people back in time, even after you leave Virginia, to give a sample of the foods made during the 18th century. There is a variety of soups, dressings, dishes, cookies, pies and beverages. Each chapter gives a little bit of history on the recipes to be mentioned. There are some interesting dishes to sample and tasty treats to savor.
Seems like a good book of recipes. I confess I have not tried them. I gather that the intent is to give some idea of colonial food, without completely sacrificing modern ideas of taste and hygiene.

A collection of recipes from the local inhabitants. Although gathered in the 1930's, the providers cite sources in their families back to the 1830's.
