I enjoyed this book as much as the first. Unlike many series, the heroes aren't super-heroes, they are slightly more than ordinary people drawn together by fate. The world and the plot are at least a bit original, and the characters are good. This is also a reasonable length novel that isn't drawn out by a lot of extra plotting or scenery or fluff. Good stuff.
It seems that I'm one of the few people that enjoyed these books. They aren't great or classic fantasy, but they aren't terrible either. I enjoyed reading them, and I enjoyed them enough to read them more than once. In fact, my copy shows that its been read and shared multiple times. There's nothing complicated, amazing or terribly unique here, but it is fairly well written and I enjoyed the characters and world he constructed.
I liked this short series. It was original at the time, and the characters are interesting. It is quite well written and engaging to read. Its not overly epic, the action centers around 4 characters and there is only 1 plot line. All attention is focused on those 4 characters and their quest, so this is not as convoluted as a lot of today's fantasy. However, I really enjoyed reading it again, it is well written and the characters are well constructed.
Nothing really complicated or novel here, but I really enjoyed these books. They are easy to read, straightforward fantasy with a couple of original plot ideas. Not great, but certainly not the worst fantasy around, either. Worth reading.
