Social Software in Libraries: Building Collaboration, Communication, and Community Online by Meredith G. Farkas
Very informative book about social software and its possible uses in libraries. I got some good ideas for the upcoming redesign of my library's website.
My library's current website already implements a lot of this technology and I found myself wondering why we weren't mentioned as examples in this example-packed book. In some cases, there seemed to be more than one reference to the same library websites, almost like referencing a popular crowd or hipster library clique. I guessing this is my show more problem though, I've never been one for self-promotion. show less

Social Software in Libraries: Building Collaboration, Communication, and Community Online by Meredith G. Farkas
Meredith Farkas is a young librarian at Norwich University in Vermont, author of the excellent Information Wants to be Free blog. In this book she evaluates social networking software and their uses in libraries. She does not, fortunately, advocate adopting sofrware because it is cool, but because it fills a need. Excellent overview of the topic.

A very good coverage of the various social networking and other social software tools used in libraries. Our textbook for the LIBR246 class on Web 2.0 Tools.
