Tremendously helpful when dealing with a sick child --

This book gave me the confidence to question my pediatrician knowledgeably, and to trust my own judgment caring for my daughter. I followed Dr. Mendelsohn's advice, and my daughter was rarely sick. She did not miss more than four days of school being sick during elementary and middle school years. She's now a college graduate, and still has a robust immune system -- even though she was born prematurely and designated "at risk."

Along with show more Dr. Spock's "Baby and Child Care," this book helped me to raise a healthy and happy kid. show less
This book is so great. It's always nice to be reminded that parents can have a pretty good handle on their childrens' health without the aid/interference of a doctor.

This book has helped me, as a mother, through many a childhood illness.
Essential reading for those wanting to raise their child without all the usual Western medical junk like antibiotics all the time.
Twenty-five years as a practicing physician have convinced Dr. Mendelsohn that:ォAnnual physical examinations are a health risk.テつォHospitals are dangerous places for the sick.テつォMost operations do little good and many do harm.テつォMedical testing laboratories are scandalously inaccurate.テつォMany drugs cause more problems that they cure.テつォThe X-ray machine is the most pervasive and most dangerous tool in the doctor's office.
